It appeared as if out of nowhere, near this very fern by which I was seated.
I was dictating notes, processing something aloud with God about transformation—how caterpillars turn to goo inside the chrysalis. The complete undoing before the becoming. That’s when it happened… right when I said the word ‘metamorphosis.’
A white butterfly—edged with rosy lavender—began dancing, hovering, and fluttering. It flew so close. I could almost touch it. Then it flew gently to my left and lingered… longer than butterflies usually do.
As if to say: Mark this moment. Let your eyes see. Your heart register. Your spirit remember.
And then it lifted away.
I don’t believe every butterfly carries a personal message from God. Sometimes a butterfly is simply… a butterfly. But I also believe our Father delights in meeting His children in ordinary moments. Throughout Scripture, He often used everyday things—a burning bush, ravens, lilies, mustard seeds, vineyards, foxes, rocks, water, and wind—to draw attention to something He was already speaking.
The butterfly didn’t create the message. It simply underscored the conversation I was already having with Him. It felt like a kairos moment—an ordinary moment where God gently emphasized what He was already speaking to my heart. A quiet echo in nature while I was speaking of transformation.
Because as Scripture reminds us:
“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”—Romans 1:20 NLT
Let the natural remind you of what God has already revealed through His Word and His Spirit. When creation echoes what He is already speaking, don’t rush past it. Give thanks, remember, and keep walking with Him.
