The Hidden Years
The beginning for me looked like securing a website. I didn’t know what to do with it just yet. A couple of years later, I bought a new one—under a different name. Still not fully understanding, but I knew in part.
A writing here and there. Logging in to make small changes or learn how to use the program. Not really putting it out there into the world. Biding until the time was ready.
Sometimes obedience looks like movement—those visible steps forward. Other times it looks like maintenance, yet it’s easy to place less value on that because now it looks like investing money, energy, and time to let God do His work… in you. But I’ve learned both are worship when done in faith.
When the Pause is Productive
Sometimes what looks like a pause really isn’t. It’s preparation. It’s growth. It’s the tests we walk through, unaware that each one is part of the overall process.
The pause is productive. It’s the hidden place where roots deepen and faith refines. What feels like stillness is often strategy. We just don’t see it… yet.
And stewardship? It can look like so many things:
• saying yes and taking the next small step
• renewing a website you still don’t fully understand
• showing up to read, listen, worship, write
• repeating the same rhythms
• becoming bolder with each new yes
• keeping your heart open when it would be easier to close it
• allowing refinement to do its work
• yielding comfort for growth
• humbling our ideas of being right
• and tossing down hidden idols you didn’t know you carried
Stewardship looks like steps and pauses—knowing when to take a step and when to rest. Do not despise the days of small beginnings… or those pauses.
If you find yourself in any of this… take hope knowing He is at work and you are not forgotten.
